Meet Our Featured Cadet: Nathan Hughes!

Nathan is a Junior Animal Science Major in Squadron 3 from Orange, Texas! His favorite memory from his Junior Year was the first march in this season. He said, “Nothing can compare to the rush of adrenaline that comes from riding a horse through a crowd of people that are looking at you with amazement.” Nathan is looking forward to trying out for a PMC Senior Leadership position for next year and learning more riding skills and techniques. When asked what he has learned from his time in the cav he said, “I have learned a lot about confidence and trust throughout my time in PMC. Confidence comes from lots of practice and getting comfortable being in uncomfortable situations. When you are riding in such a large group with so many dynamic parts, you have to trust your horses, your training, and most importantly your people.”

Meet Our Featured Cadet: Cindy Jezierski!

Cindy is a Senior with a focus in Biomedical Sciences and minors in Neuroscience and Public Health in I-1 from Cocoa Beach, Florida! Her favorite memory from her time in the Cav was when she gave her first tour of the Green as PMC’s Public Relations Officer. “Parsons has been the highlight of my college career and it has given me the best experiences. Being able to build better relationships between the Corps and the organization allows me to give back to the unit. Answering so many questions from cadets throughout the corps and making them smile when they see a horse for the first time is one of the most rewarding experiences.” Cindy is looking forward to initiating her plans as PR officer this semester and mentoring juniors as they prepare to take over the unit once her class graduates. When asked what she has learned so far in the Cav she says “I used to be so afraid of larger animals and joining pmc was one of my greatest challenges. Thanks to my mentors I learned to stay calm in stressful situations and to not back down when challenged by both horses and people alike. It’s important to be confident in your own abilities and if you get thrown off- just get back on.”
