The Commanding Officer (CO) presides over all meetings, commands the unit at all troop drills and ceremonies, and represents the unit at all official functions. The CO is responsible for all actions of all members of the troop. The CO holds the rank of Cadet Major.
The Operations Officer acts as the official planner for the troop, makes advance arrangements for quartering and transportation, and prepares the official operations orders for troop functions. The Ops Officer holds the rank of Cadet Captain.
The Section Chief commands the artillery half-section and its components at all drills and ceremonies and represents the half-section at all official functions. The Section Chief holds the rank of Cadet Captain.
The First Platoon Leader commands the first platoon at all drills and ceremonies and represents the first platoon at all official functions. Likewise, the Second Platoon Leader commands the second platoon. Platoon Leaders hold the rank of Cadet Captain.
Riding Positions
During drills and ceremonies, the CO leads the cavalry troop, followed by the Guidon Bearer and the Operations Officer. They are followed by the First Platoon Leader, the troopers of the first platoon, and the First Platoon Sergeant. They are followed by the Second Platoon Leader, second platoon, and the Second Platoon Sergeant.

Following the cavalry troop is the artillery half-section. The Section Chief leads the half-section, followed by the "Spirit of '02" field gun, the wagon, and the Scout.
